Coach Andre Desjardins came to Canberra as head of ACT baseball at a time when opportunities for young players were limited. He raised the standard of play, taught a great deal about values and provided myself and many others with a chance to extend our baseball careers in the United States. My dream of going pro was not realized however I was able to begin my university education, find a great profession, marry a great girl and have a couple of kids because of the opportunity this man gave me. Coach taught me about dedication to yourself, your team and doing things the right way. These are values for baseball but also for life and I will teach my children to behave this way. I will miss you coach. Thank you for coming into my life and giving me the chance to learn some very valuable lessons. -Darren Jauncey
