I am quite sure you have found the land you dreamed of,,I was shocked to hear you had passed so suddenly,I as a young imigrant would sing "somewhere over the rainbow" with you word for word on our back verandah,,we did such a fantastic duet. I cried my eyes out in disbelief at your passing,,please do rest peacefully and thank you for the music. Sheila xx
Tony Buchanan, saxophone, and Rocky Thomas, trumpet, were never part of the Aztecs. They appeared with them only on the TV program, It's All Happening, in 1966. Thomas, who came up with the title, was the arranger/orchestrator and musical director of the show. Filmed episodes seem to have disappeared. This is a great shame, as some of the best Australian artist performances happened on It's All Happening. Billy Thorpe was amazing. As I recall, he was about 18 years old and carried the show. What an incredible young man he was. Sadly missed by all who knew him and worked with him. Vale. Harry Flashman.
Growing up in the late 60's and 70's, our generation like most rebelled against the previous generation. So our attitude was, if your of the previous generation or 10 years older than us/me you were (1) washed up (2) useless (3) hasbeen One afternoon in 1992 I decided to go to the Somerton Hotel (Victoria) to see "The Old Man of rock " for something to do. I was blown off My feet by one of the most powerfull live music performances I have ever experienced. Like a quality aged red wine, Mr Billy Thorpe was Bloody Brilliant. What a profound loss to The Australian and World Music faithfull. Since 1992 I have never made or had another ageist thought or comment. Thank you Mr Billy (King) Thorpe. May you rest in peace- Simon

"Love Letters Straight From Your Heart" and all the others. What an outstanding performer. What a magnificent voice, a voice we'll never forget. Memories of younger days, a time of love, peace and harmony, the dreams of youth, and the fabulous Billy.
