Dear Dan, since I first came to know your music in 1977 (with "Twin sons of different mothers" ) I was deeply impressed of your expressive lyrics and music. As I come from Germany,I translated your songs from "The Innocent Age" in german, trying to find the right words to decribe and to transfer your fine articulateness in my own language-Dear Dan, your music was my first love....and it also will be my last, I´m sure-farewell" Your Manfred Martin from Germany

Dan spoke for a whole generation. We were all in love with him. We would wake up to "to the morning" in our dorm rooms. I'm in tears this morning...TO THE MORNING...Dan...BE ON YOUR WAY!! Sonia Rosa Lokey

I was once asked if I had to throw away all of my music and keep just one record, which one would it be? Without hesitation, I answered "Dan Fogelberg's 'The Innocent Age' ". Thousands of hours and for countless days, this music kept me company and fed my soul. Thank you Dan Fogelberg for your contribution to the world and for all of the music that so many of us enjoyed! Through your music, you will always live! Rest in peace.

Thanks Tia and all who were touched by his presence that day after his passing. Remember in these troubled days his newness that he first brought. How is that not eternal in this longing we now share? Peace on Earth. God bless his soul. jim t colorado

Dan's song LONGER was the first song I ever sang in a wedding and I believe it was the first song I ever sang solo. For me, most of the time it is the music and the singer is incidental...but in Dan's case, the singer and the song are one and it is impossible to hear the songs sung by another. My heart breaks but I know he is at peace and whole again.

Best Album: Home Free Best Song: To The Morning Best Concert: Jackson, Mississippi--a one man acoustic show that showed the depth and intimacy of his music--how he heard it in his mind without the mixing. Songs remind me of a teenage crush that lasted until early adulthood-Beth Rives. Dan and Jean-my thoughts and prayers go out to you. Dan's music has always impacted and influenced my life from the teen years even to today. I've gone from 8 track to cassette to vinyl to CDs and if I had an Ipod, his music would be there too!

I first become a Folgelberg fan when introduced to his music in 1978 by my then girlfriend, now wife of 26 years. His Netherlands album still holds very special meaning. I had the privilege of seeing Dan front row center in Baltimore several years ago. For me it will forever be the concert all others are measured by.

I have wonderful memories of Dan Fogelbergs "Innocent Age" album, a treasured gift on my 21st birthday in 1984. His wonderful song storytelling and beautiful melodies will remain as a living legacy to all who love his timeless talent as a musician.

I just received an email this morning from my sister who is also a huge fan. Dan was such a huge part of our youth and adulthood. He is one of the few singers who continued to touch and inspire me into my adulthood. I always felt such a deep inner connection to him and his music. I knew in my heart he was a special soul. His music was an inspiration for a generation. As one of his songs said "He respects me when I work but He so loves me when I sing" I feel God's love will carry him on. He did wonderful in this lifetime! I will miss him terribly.

Dan Fogelberg was the first artist that made me realize you could write and sing your own songs. (I was a kid when I discovered him.) I've since covered his tunes over and over at shows. He is one of my heros. Thanks for showing up in life, Dan! You are loved by so many.

I remember hearing Dan sing "Leader of the Band" and "Run for the Roses" at the Valley Forge Music Fair. It was a small place with the stage revolving in the middle. Every seat was a good seat. He has been my favorite musician sine 1979 when my sister in law introduced his "Souvenirs" album to me. Everytime I heard there was a new album II ran out and purchased it right away. My prayers to his wife, close family and friends. He will be missed.

People, I beg of you please. If you have a favorite artist who is alive now, contact them. Or put up a tribute page, or post comments on YouTube at their videos. After they're dead, they're dead, and there's no way for them to appreciate your thoughts. Sorry, they're simply gone after death, so it's really tragic to tell them how much you appreciate them at that point. Contact them or post about them NOW - it's the right thing to do, and you know it. Look them up at wikipedia, google, or imdb and find out how your favorites are doing NOW. They might even need your financial or other support in some way - you could help make the final years of your favorite artist much better, rather than shouting at their "ghost".

I recieved an email from my daughter, who was on a train to Venice, we live in canada,to tell me that he had passed away.I too am 56 years old and listened to Dan for years and my daughter grew up listening to him. I gave "the age of innocence" to her mother years ago. It meant a lot to me that she took the time and thought to do it. Dan touched more than one generation and i think he would have appreciated having a young girl on a train emailing her father and taking the time to care and note his passing.Godspeed.

When I was 12 years old, back in the mid 1970's, I listened to the album "Home free" endlessly, my family had a vegetarian restaurant in Phoenix,AZ. (kind of ahead of it's time). We played albums for background music in the restaurant and Dan Fogelberg records were played daily. Sometime later I remember the album "Souvenirs" coming out, which I also played endlessly. Through the years I purchased most or all of the later albums listening to the music and following his career. I was also fortunate enough to have seen Dan in concert twice in the 70's, once solo and once with Tim Weisberg....absolutely fabulous concerts, I was a teenager in love, in love with Dan Fogelberg and in love with the music...what a great artist, thank you so much Dan for your sweet songs.............I am sad to hear of your passing today, but take solace in knowing you are truly home free........ Blessings to all of Dan's family and friends, may you find peace at this time Cyd Colbert Portland, Oregon

I remember hearing Dan Fogelberg for the first time in high school, in 1974 or 75. The song "Part of The Plan" was playing on the radio and I was like "who is that??? " I loved his music ever since. My favorite song is "Along the Road". The lyrics are so beautiful and the song makes me cry every time I hear it. The world has lost a wonderful songwriter/artist and it's so sad to think of the songs that will never come to life. My condolences go out to his family and friends.

Can't hear this song around Christmas without thinking of Dan Fogelberg's fine and sentimental touch with this tune. Brings a tear to my eye every time that I hear it, and makes me grateful for so many things in my life, the "really important things in life., " that is. As, the snow turned into rain"... Owe that to you, Dan. May you rest in peace. The heavenly choir just picked up another "great one."

Mr. Fogelberg gave a concert at my college (University of Missouri) in the early 1980s. His band got caught up and could not make it, so he did the entire concert with just his voice and his guitar. To this day the memory still gives me goosebumps. We will miss him.

I first saw Dan in concert back in the ‘70’s in Boston, while at college; then and still today I think one of his greatest songs, and one worth recalling the day after his passing, is “Part of the Plan.” Praying for God’s peace and mercy upon his family & friends, Keith Griswold

I know this quote is from the movie Brian's Song, but I felt it appropriate: "I love Dan Fogelberg, and when you hit your knees tonight, ask God to love him too." Dan has touched me and so many other people with his beautiful lyrics. Thanks Dan, God bless you!!

Dan Dogelberg's music enriched my life and also conceived and strengthened some friendships along the way. I am brought to tears by many of Dan's words and melodies. Only a true Dan fan can appreciate the bond shared by the appreciation of his lesser-known songs. I saw him in concert many times and have some great pictures from the second row with a zoom lens! I love Dan's music because it ranges from tender to hard rock to classical to bluegrass to jazz to R&B, all of which I love. I can't even describe the emotions I feel when I listen to his music. He is one of the most underrated musicians and artists. Many of my friends will be thinking of me now because they know I was a big Dan fan. I almost had DanFan on my license plate. Dan was like an old friend I never met. Dan searched for the meaning of life, and I wish I could have talked with him about the Bible. That's the only thing we need to read to have understanding of all things. I'm not sure whether he made a covenant with God; if not, he goes the way, sadly, of Psalm 49. At least he made the world a better place.

What can be said that has not before by 10,000 fans. Everyone knew and loved Dan Fogelberg’s songs which dominated radio stations throughout the 70’ and 80’s. His music made us all look forward to travel whether it be to work, at work or home. Dan Fogelberg was a musician’s musician on so many levels, truly an artistic being. He touched so many and will be missed all over the world. “A gentle man of music” whose life was tragically cut short, has left many trying to reconcile his passing. He deserved better and will be sorely missed. Jean, we are truly sorry for your loss.

As my husband and I sail the Great Harbor and Merchants Row, I wonder if I had ever passed Dan and Jean as two ships are likened to do. Dan was an inspiration to me beginning in my college years at U of I and through my life so far, as I unknowningly followed him to U of I and now to Maine. I never imagined his life would end so soon. Dan was and will always be a part of me. From the first time I saw him to how his music related to my life. Music is timeless and now my children are listening to him. Dan will live on as most can only hope to do. He will live on in my soul and my children's, and their children's. We are eternally grateful.
