This woman was extraordinary. She was tough, yes tough as nails. She was also compassionate, and accepting of the good the bad or the ugly. I shared many a Christmas meal with her and felt like the year that had separated the meal was only a day. I treasured the interaction we shared around my table, especially listening to the rich stories of her very hard European background. She brought up a lovely Son and looked after and cherished her strong, sensitive grandsons. She adopted the partners and girlfriends, of all of her boys, as her own. No one ever felt left out or abandoned when it came to Lidia Zemaitis.
I respected Lidia as if she was my own family and she always reciprocated. I will treasure my memory of her. When I came to know her from the 90's, each Christmas meal we shared, I will remember her as we used to remember those that could not be with us at our table anymore.
God bless Gene, Bonita and families and know that our thoughts are with you.
