I met Sgt. Dawson on my first day working at Macquaire Fields Police Station in August 1997 fresh out of the Academy. He welcomed me. He helped me settle in. We were similar ages then, and he said I was mad joining at my age, but he gave me advice, and knowledge, and wished me well. I was also originally from Armidale. Sgt.Dawson was very kind to me. I worked with him for many years. I was very sad to find out today in NSW Police news that Sgt.Dawson had passed away in March. God bless you Sarge, and also bless your family.

11 years agoDear Michael, I have just read your message in relation to Noel and I'm sorry that I didn't see it earlier. It was very kind of you to leave such a heart warming message about Noel. He was indeed a good man and a loving husband and father, father in law and poppy. I miss him dreadfully and not a day goes by that I don't think about him. You might be interested to know that the youngest of our four sons has followed Noel into 'the job' and has been a Police officer for almost four years. He quite often comes in contact with many senior Police that knew Noel and they all say such wonderful things about him. His funeral was attended by hundreds of people including many, many current and past serving Police officers including some high ranking officers. They were all wonderful to me and my family and they gave Noel a guard of honour outside the church and a Police escort to the cemetery with cars stopping at every set of traffic lights to allow the cortege to pass through.
