Wally Thompson was the first Head of the Spanish Department at the University of the West Indies in St. Augustine Trinidad and Tobago 1963-66. He was incredibly energetic, extremely informed about Spanish language retentions among Venezuelans who migrated to Trinidad during the many periods of instability in their home country. As a teacher he was devoted to his undergrad students and conducted the most inspiring and informative tutorial sessions at his home in St.Augustine.
