I AM A BIG FAN OF DRAG RACING AND HAVE BEEN FOR MANY YEARS. I MYSELF USE TO DRAG RACE A 1970 CHEVELLE AT SUMMERDUCK (REMINGTON VA) AND IT WAS SOMETHING I LOVED TO DO AND IT WAS A PASSION. I KNOW FROM PERSONAL EXPERENCE THAT WHEN YOU GET INTO YOUR CAR TO GO DOWN THE TRACK THAT YOU DON'T KNOW IF IT WILL BE YOUR LAST RUN. BUT WHAT IS LIFE IF YOU DON'T TAKE CHANCES AND RISK. I NEVER MET SCOTT PERSONALLY AND I AM SORRY I HAVE MISSED THE CHANCE. I AM DEEPLY SADDEN WITH HIS LOSS AS WELL AS THE LOSS OF ANY AND ALL NHRA AND NASCAR RACERS. MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH THE FAMILY AND FRIENDS OF SCOTT KALITTA! AS HIS FANS, WE FEEL YOUR LOSS DEEPLY, IN OUR HEARTS HE WILL LIVE ON FOREVER! AS A HEALTH CARE PROFESIONAL, I WISH I COULD BE THERE IN PERSON TO HELP AND SUPPORT THE FAMILY AND HIS FRIENDS. GOD BLESS YOU ALL AND STAY STRONG, FOR GOD IS THERE BY YOUR SIDE. LOVE TO YOU ALL!

I have been a long time drag racing fan and member. I see the glory and i also feel the pain when something like this happens. We remember Scott as how he was as a racer and a person. There aren't words enough to say about all the good this man has done for racing and his family. We know as members of the NHRA family that he was a very good man and father to his family, and will be missed in so very many ways. I can only say i have been blessed to know Scott and can only wish my most heart foelt sympathy to his family and friends that were so close to him. I wish them all the best and happiness in the future. God bless them and may he keep them safe.

I have a freiend that works on the team but none of that matters the loss hit home. My husband and myself have gone to the Columbus Ohio races (Hebron - now Norwalk) and Indy for over 20 years. I missed Scott when he "retired". We were at Indy when Blaine Johnson was lost to the racing community and my hubby is at Norwalk this weekend (I was not able to go). I cannot imagine any other pain as great as losing a family member this young. I have three grown children and it would kill me if something happened to them before me. I have always been ready to go first, as it should be. Our hearts and prayers are with the Kalitta family. May God grant you some comfort in knowing that Scott could not have experienced any suffering. I hope his children will someday understand that their father was doing something he loved. Most of us never get to "love" our work, it is just something we HAVE to do. God Speed to all the Kalittas.

SCOTT KALITTA WAS A TRUE DRAG RACER. HE CAME FROM ONE OF THE BEST, CONNIE KALITTA. ONE OF MY FAVORITE MEMORIES WAS AT A RACE IN BRISTOL IN 2007. AFTER THE RACE ON SUNDAY CONNIE WAS SITTING AT THE TRAILER IN THE HOSPITALITY TENT. I ASKED HIM IF I COULD GET MY PICTURE TAKEN WITH HIM FOR MY SCRAPBOOK AND HE WAS SO NICE AND PLEASANT. SCOTT WAS THE SAME WAY, HE NEVER DENIED A FAN AN AUTOGRAPH OR A PHOTOGRAPH IF TIME AND RACING ALLOWED HIM. IN MY HEART THAT CAMP ARE TRUE CHAMPIONS EACH AND EVERY YEAR AND I AM SURE THEY WILL CONTINUE TO BE. THE DRAG RACING FAMILY HAS LOST A VALUABLE MEMBER BUT THIS WILL ONLY MAKE THEM CLOSER AND STRONGER AS WELL AS THE FAMILY OF FANS THAT FOLLOW THEM EACH AND EVERY WEEKEND.

What a sad day for drag racing, Racing will never be the same. May his death not be in vain. I hope the track can somehow get more attention for stopping distance. get rid of the walls, maybe put nets or something else. May the Lord comfort your family. R I P Scott.

I think it is time that we go to a 1000 foot track now, with the speeds these cars are now going. It would not cost tracks that much for the change and I think the fans will still love drag racing. May God be with your family.
