I had just come off of 6 years of being an "at home Mom" and my husband had just "retired" after 30 years in corporate America when we were referred to Steve by our mutual friend, Sean Murphy to talk about starting our own business. We knew we had what it took to succeed, but without Steve's guidance wouldn't have known how to get there! He didn't just do the legal work for us, he guided us and taught us. He really knew how to listen and pay attention to the details, then put them into the bigger picture and help us to take one step at a time. He was so calming that way. I remember the three of us meeting for lunch at Opah when he had our new business documents ready and he delivered them in a new briefcase filled with our documents and a customized embossed stamp for us to use on all our official documents. What attorney puts that kind of detail into delivering documents?! That was Steve! I'll never forget the meetings in his office where he would get out his marker and draw out our conversations on the white board helping to be sure we kept our vision clear and didn't ever just settle. I had just returned home from a great meeting and looked forward to calling Steve to tell him that we are finally really making our vision a reality when I heard what happened. This is when I realized what a profound impact he had in our lives and in the lives of so many. I was blessed to know Steve and fortunate to get to know Jalaine as well through these years. I know just through reading these letters and knowing her spirit that his spirit will live on through her and their beautiful girls. I often think of the book "The Five People You'll Meet in Heaven" . Steve is one of my 5 People! He has been an inspiration and was my mentor through my transition from Mom back into the working world. I miss him and am comforted to know he's watching over all of us in heaven! Mike and I have Jalaine and the girls in our prayers. Love, Taya

I met Steve & Jalaine through my late husband Mike Thompson, who passed away alomost 3 years ago. We met in 1999 and became closer than ever through the years. Mike loved being around Steve because he was always so happy and positive about anything that life threw his way. Steve to me was one of the most loving, sensitive, funny, and truly a family oriented man. The way he would look at Jalaine with such love, and praise her as a mother & wife, would always me me smile. The way he loved Ellie, Grace and Catie and his devotion to them, made my heart fill with love to witness him being such an amazing Daddy. He knew how to balance work, time to himself, and still make his family his #1 priority, and for that I always admired him so much. I remember after Mike passed away how he would comfort me with his hugs and warm smile that just made me feel for the one tiny moment that I would be ok, that I would survive my loss. He just had a way about him that made everyone feel warm. I still cannot believe you are gone Steve. Your memory and spirit will surround us all forever. And through your daughters eyes we will always see a piece of you. Please hug Mike for me in Heaven and tell him I love him so very much!! Please know that I will tell your daughters stories of you as they grow, and know that they will have Sophia to lean on through this hard time, and in the future to come. I love you Jager, you will be so very missed my friend. XOXO Norma Thompson

My daddy is the best dad in the whole wide world! He taught me how to surf, ride my bike, play the guitar, and many more. The thing I will miss most about him was that he was so kind, loving, and generous. He would always pray for us at night and tell us how much he loved us. He was always making up funny jokes and always made us laugh. I love you daddy and I am happy you are in heaven with Jesus. Ellie:)

Can you say....FLIP SIDE! I remember at Calvary Church in Placentia the musicals that we all did together. It was so much fun. Then there were the COUSIN PARTIES. As we got older and our lives took everyone in different directions, my dad had a great idea to get all of us cousins together again. I thoroughly enjoyed this time together because I did not see any of my cousins due to living further away from them. It was so much fun to be silly and play games together. Our prayers are with Jalaine and the girls. Steve will be missed so much.

Steve has been my friend since birth. Mike Hagemeister and I have been friends since 1965 when we met at the reception station going into the army. We were stationed at Fort Bragg N.C. when Steve was born. I have so many wonderful memories of Steve... Someone said the Steve was larger than life and that is so true! I always had very high expectations for Steve and he always surpassed those expectations. It was a pleasure for me to be his friend and second father. I love him dearly and I will miss him terribly, but know that he is with his creator and experiencing joy beyond my comprehension! Our prayers continue for all the family and his friends. Take courage for even though our Lord said that in this life we would have trouble, He also said that He would be with us the entire way! I love you Steve, 'till we meet again...

Steve Hagemeister was a superb human being. He cared deeply about his family first, friends and co-workers. I was fortunate enough to have worked with Steve as his secretary at Tenet. He patiently taught me many things about the law and our business. He was always very calm and self assured. He was super bright and great fun. He was very disciplined about his work and writing. His diet and his work out regimen were admirable. I recall his joy upon marrying Jalaine and his overwhelming joy and wonder at the birth of Ellie, then Grace and baby Cate. It was a pleasure and an honor to have known Steve who filled up the world with his charismatic presence. My prayers and sorrow are shared with his loving family at this time. His memory will remain with me forever.

My family has known the Hagemeisters for a long, long time. My father and Mike H. were in the army together as young men (a very long time ago). So I have known Steve for as far back as I can remember. Steve was 5 years older than me, so we never really hung out together, until later in life. I remember when he came to live with us, for about a year, when he was going to school for his MBA (i think). He was a pool cleaner and a body builder. Steve was HUGE!!! I remember helping him "paint" his back with bronzer before a body building competition. The most disturbing part of Steve living with us was coming home late at night (or early in the morning) from partying with my friends to find Steve sitting on the couch, eating, watching TV.....completely naked! Steve would roam the halls in his birthday suit in the wee hours.....bizarre but hilarious. When Steve moved to San Diego for law school, I visited him a couple of times. Steve was always fun to be around, energetic and funny, I can still hear his laugh in my head. I will miss him, but look forward to seeing him again in heaven.

We have known Steve since he was two years old, and that is when we met his parents, Mike and Christy. If you have met them, you know where Steve got his charisma and good looks from. Most importantly that is where he learned about his God, and developed into a man of integrity. The memories flood our minds with Steve through the years, riding his bike down the middlle of the street pulling a wagon holding Micah and Erin, who were screaming, taking him camping in Mexico, when we were almost robbed of our gasoline, and riding dirt bikes on Team Jesus rides. The best memory has been watching Steve's parents raise him, and then watching Steve with his own family, guiding them with all the love and Godly wisdom he experienced from Miike and Christy. He fell in love with a girl who knew this kind of love from her parents too. This is what every parent hopes for their children, and we hope it for our Christina. In recent years when we camped with groups of people, including Steve's family, the comment was always made, that Steve is the definition of a good father, and husband. To God be the glory, great things He has done, and will continue to do in all the Hagemeister family. God is the perfect Father and will provide for Ellie, Caty, and Gracie as He guides Jalaine in the years to come. We will always remember Steve Hagemeister, "The man, the myth, the legend" ( that was on his license plate as a joke). There is always a little truth in a joke. His legend, or legacy, is God's love that he passed on to his family and friends. Love to the Hagemeisters, Fred, Carol and Christina Massari

From 2000 to 2003, I was a paralegal in the same Tenet Corp. law department where Steve was an attorney. Though I didn't work directly for Steve, there were times when I spoke to him in his office to get info about "his" hospitals. Steve was so down to earth and easy to talk to - so unofficious - that beyond those work-related conversations, I was able to get to know him as the real person he was. As Tenet's well-publicized corporate crises rocked our law dept. and layoffs began, Steve was a friend and mentor to me. It makes me cry as I write this, to realize that this nice, fun and compassionate guy has "moved on." My heart goes out to his wife and children.

I've known Steve since I was in 6th grade, he was in 7th, when I started attending Calvary Church in Placentia with Chrysti Borcherding. We used to hang out with Micah all the time and got to be picked on by Steve just like we were part of the family. My fondest memories of Steve were Jr. High and High School church camps, dirt biking and playing Capture the Flag. I will always remember when he bleached out his hair, he just wasn't quite as much of a "hottie" with platinum hair (and eyebrows) and when he was crowned as the Homecoming King (see pictures, I love the nose crinkle with his smile, I think he got such a kick out of being the King). Steve was the first sarcastic person I encountered at a young age, I think we would have a lot more of that in common now. I'm sorry I never had the chance to meet Jalaine and the girls, I'm sure my daughter Haley would have had fun babysitting (she's 16 and still available most weekends). Mostly I think Steve would want everyone to know how much his relationship with Jesus has meant to him, his family and his friends, so if you haven't asked Jesus to be your Savior, now is the time, we're never guaranteed tomorrow. God Bless you all!!

God must have his reasons for wanting you with him at such a young age. Just feel like we have all had you in our lives and I suppose I personally expected that there are so many things we had to look forward to in the years to come. For example: July 4th down at HB Kids birthday parties BBQ's 9 holes and breakfast 18 holes and lunch Dawn patrol surfing and camping Another business deal together Family trips Couples nights out Intimidate our daughters dates Teaching them to drive Sending our daughters off to college Walking them down the aisle Retiring early and playing more golf... Taking cruises with our wives... Etc. We've been friends for nearly 20 years and I miss you and love you man. We will find the strength to push on and know that you and your girls will always be part of the Roselli family. God Bless!
