Mr Moore What a special man in my life, he and Betty took me into their home in order that I could play rugby league with their son Billy. I was always treated like a son. Many a time Mr Moore, Big Billy, would drive from Mascot to Caringbah to collect me from my place of work then get me to football on time. I did not just stay there for the football normally I was treated to a whole weekend being spoilt with lollies that Betty brought home from her work. Betty always liked to cook my favourite dessert, rhubarb, ice cream and custard. I also went as part of the family just down the road to Big Billy's Mother and two sister's home for a scrumptious baked dinner. The Moore family were very generous people and excellent role models to me. I recall one day when I visited the Moores to break the news that I was joining the NSW Police Force. Big Billy told me I was mad for joining because I was too soft. If he told me once he told me a thousand times I was mad to join the Police. It took me 30 years before I realised that he was right as I finally left the Police as damaged goods. Although I did not get to see Mr Moore as often as I could because I live in Queensland I still enjoyed phoning him a few times a year. I have always considered Mr Moore as a second father, he was a wonderful person and the perfect gentleman. God knows that I would have loved to be present at his funeral but I am comfortable with that because he will always have a place in my heart. My sincere condolences to all. Greg Kimber
